What Being COR Certified Means for Maxim and their Clients

The Certificate of Recognition (COR™) is nationally endorsed by participating members of the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations (CFCSA). It provides us with an effective tool to assess our health and safety management system.

COR™ is aimed at driving positive workplace behaviour and practices that lead to improved performance. It is currently being used across Canada and is a pre-qualification requirement for many contractors working in and out of the province and on public- and private-sector projects.

The COR™ program began in Alberta more than 20 years ago. While the bulk of COR™ firms are in construction, the standard is used by major business sectors in Alberta and British Columbia.

By achieving COR™, we are able to demonstrate to our clients that our health and safety management system has been developed, implemented, and evaluated on an annual basis through comprehensive internal and external audits, unlike many of the other administrative only certifications.

Unlike other safety programs, COR™ has a 3rd party auditor verify what is in the safety policy is actually being upheld in the field. Maxim’s workforce has always had a very strong safety culture and easily embraced COR™ as their safety standard.

“Maxim wants to always make sure we have safe sites was looking for a program that demonstrates that, which COR does. COR is what is being embraced in eight other provinces and owners from outside Ontario are asking more and more that Ontario general contractors have COR.”

COR is now frequently used as a pre-qualification and/or condition of contract by public and private project owners across Canada. Maxim is proud to have this designation and to be one of the first few companies in Ontario to pass this very high standard. Maxim Group is certificate number 000087 and Maxim Roofing is 000106.
